The Counseling Roundtable is a global community and provides an inclusive, respectful, and collaborative space for professional counselors to co-create and develop excellence in advocacy, leadership, research, teaching, and supervision.

Lead Collaborators

Kok-Mun Ng

PhD, LPC, LCMHC, ACS, NCC

Dr. Kok-Mun Ng is Professor of Counselor Education at Oregon State University and a Lead Collaborator on the Counseling Roundtable team. He has served in state-level and national-level professional organizations (e.g., NBCC & CACREP). He has published research articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented programs, and conducted training workshops in regional, national, and international venues. His research interests include theories and techniques in counseling, supervision, multicultural and social justice issues, couples and family, assessment, pedagogy, and professional training issues including professional identity development and internationalization of counseling. Kok-Mun is a Malaysian who currently resides in Oregon.

Gideon Litherland

PhD, ACS, LCPC, CCMHC

Gideon serves as a Lead Collaborator for The Counseling Roundtable. By day, he works in the Counseling@Northwestern master’s program at the Family Institute at Northwestern University where he teaches, supervises, and serves on the faculty and the distributed clinical training team. Gideon earned his PhD in Counseling from Oregon State University and his MA in Counseling Psychology from the Family Institute at Northwestern University. Gideon has served in multiple professional counseling leadership roles and maintains research interests in clinical supervision, instrumentation, psychometrics, and relational-cultural practice. Gideon lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Gretchen Schulthes

PhD, LAC, NCC

Gretchen serves as a Lead Collaborator for The Counseling Roundtable. Her day job is working in higher education at the community college level at Hudson County Community College. In addition, she is also an adjunct instructor in Montclair State University’s Family Science & Human Development department. Gretchen has a PhD in Counseling from Oregon State University and an MA in Counseling from Kean University. She is particularly interested in engaging in research focused on college student populations and various aspects of counselor education. Gretchen currently lives in Jersey City, NJ.

 

Mandarin Collaborators

Daisy Zhaoxuan Zhou

Daisy Zhaoxuan Zhou serves as a volunteer collaborator at TCR providing leadership in developing Mandarin-based programming. Currently, Daisy is a doctoral student in the counselor education program at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho. Daisy grew up in China and received her B.S. in psychology. She earned her M.S. in Marriage Family and Couple Counseling and a certificate in Play and Creativity in counseling at Stetson University. As an emerging counselor educator, Daisy is passionate about multiculturalism in counseling and counselor education, research training for counseling students, and using expressive-art techniques in counseling, supervision, and teaching.

Yun Shi

Yun Shi is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked with diverse individuals and families since 2003. In the past decade, she has supervised dozens of mental health professionals from the United States and over 10 Asian countries and regions. She teaches in master’s level counselor education programs in the United States and trains counselors overseas. Yun is currently completing her doctoral degree in Counselor Education from Oregon State University. Her research interests include diversity in marriage, couple, and family counseling, theories and techniques of counseling with diverse populations, and internationalization of counseling.
